Summer Guide: Weekday Fun in Downtown Cincinnati

Group of riders having fun outside during summer in Cincinnati

‘Summertime and the living is easy’, they say, but what to do when your weekends are jam-packed and those sunny days are leaving you itching to get out of the office? We’ve compiled a brief list of weekday activities to get some ideas flowing!

Explore Washington Park

We are truly spoiled by having such a huge and beautiful park right in the heart of Over-the-Rhine.

Taking a stroll through the park is alone enough to stir some creative ideas for weekday fun in Cincinnati, but the park itself provides you with a ton of events and activities for those who want to do something a bit more active, including Workout on the Green (Tuesdays & Wednesdays, from 6-8pm) and Summer Cinema – (Wednesdays, starting at 9pm).

Looking for a place to meet for drinks? Check out the Southwest Porch inside Washington Park! It’s just north of the dog park and is just under 3,000 square feet of open-air fun! There are interactive games such as giant chess and ping pong, plus they serve local beer in addition to wine and liquor.

There’s really too much going on in Washington Park this summer to fit in this post, so be sure to check out their website for all of the details!

Attend an FC Cincinnati or Reds Game –

Watch what critics call “the best American soccer team” they’ve ever seen or root, root, root for the home team at a classic Reds baseball game.

FC Cincinnati has recently secured a spot in the MLS, making it perhaps one of the most exciting times to be an American soccer fan in Cincinnati. Trust us, these games are incredible to attend any day of the week, but you can check out their complete schedule here.

And there’s really nothing quite like a baseball game in the summertime, is there? Great American Ball Park is a true beauty, especially after you’ve been sitting in an office all day. If you want a unique way to head to the game, hop aboard our Redlegs Rally cruise. We’ll pedal you to two classic sports bars before dropping you off at the game!

Shop in Over-the-Rhine –

When the Pedal Wagon rolled out its first wagon in Over-the-Rhine in 2012, we knew we’d be proud to call this neighborhood ‘home’.

And wow, what a difference 7 years has made! We’ve watched countless shops and stores open and bring their creative feel to this already unique part of town.

All in a day’s work, you can head to Victor Athletics to complete your classic, everyday wardrobe, stop by The Rookwood Pottery Co. to peak into Cincinnati’s hand-crafted history, pick up a special treat for Fido at Pet Wants, admire frames like you’ve never seen before at frameshop, and treat yourself to thoughtfully made jewelry at Lane & Kate.

With new shops opening weekly, the list goes on and on, making OTR the perfect place to shop ‘til you drop.

Ride the Pedal Wagon –

Did you know that the Pedal Wagon rolls 7 days a week?! We here at Pedal Wagon know that Cincy summers are truly amazing, so we’re available for exploring all week long.

Summer is our busy season and Friday’s and Saturday’s tend to sell out quickly, so take a look at our cruise offerings that are perfect for Sunday through Thursday summertime fun!

  • Bike, Bevies, & BrunchWhat better way to have a Sunday-Funday than pedal to two of our partner bars before getting dropped off at one of Cincinnati’s hottest spots for brunch?
  • Pedal-Power Lunch Set your out-of-office reply because the Pedal Wagon is picking you and your coworkers up at the office and is pedaling you to lunch!
  • Progressive DinnerA foodie’s dream, hop aboard this truly unique culinary adventure, where we’ll pedal to one location for appetizers and another for dinner, before enjoying dessert aboard the wagon.
